I wasn’t even born yet for this episode, I came along in 1960. My mother watched this show, Search For Tomorrow, Edge of Night, Love of Life. I miss my mom so much and those days when I was home sick from school and she had these shows on TV.

I think about my grandma seeing this. She loved her AS THE WORLD TURNS. You could not talk when it was on

My first visit to the set of ATWT was on 12/20/71 for the live broadcast of Episode #4068. Charles Paul (the musical director and organist) let me sit on the left end of the organ bench while he played the theme song and background music. He used a Steinway piano, Hammond B3 organ, and a Simone celeste. (The celeste was used for the bell tones in the middle break and the long closing theme.). At that time, the show originated from Studio 42 at the CBS Broadcast Center in Manhattan at 524 West 57 Street.

Thank you so much!! This is great stuff. There are no decent soaps on today..an art lost I suppose. I was three when Mom would watch this, glued to the set, she would never miss an episode, and I would watch them with her as I grew.

This is when woman weren’t in the working force and had time to catch up on their stories which were only 15 minutes long. I’m 56. My Mom never watched the soaps before, during or after. She watched once (I think ATWT) in the 60’s and my Father came home from work early and caught her crying. He said WTH are you crying about? She never watched a soap again. LOL!!! It just wasn’t her jam. She had 4 kids by then and didn’t have time or the desire to sit and watch tv during the day. After, I was born she always worked. That said, it must been so neat to watch these shows in the early days. They were simple but were high drama at their best.
